OVERCAST WITH MODIFICATIONS

1. Why is noon on a sunny day a difficult light to produce a good photo? There is more dynamic range on a bright, sunny day than needed. The shadow/subject will clash with the bright highlights of the sun.
2. Why is overcast light better for photographing a person? Your subject will look much more relaxed/natural in a soft , even light. As well they will not "squint" in the photograph.
3. How do clouds add drama? The clouds draw attention and are viewed to be "interesting." As well, they are "beautiful and compelling." The website states, sunrise and sunset are the best times to shoot photos for there are a variety of colors and much more fascinating scenes.
4. What camera setting should be considered when shooting in overcast light? "Slower shutter speeds, wider apertures and/or higher ISO's."
5. What are some ways to solve the flat light problem of overcast light? Add your own light to the photograph. When there isn't enough "direct light" in the image, bringing your own will allow just the right highlight on your subject.
