Vocabulary:
Horizontal, Vertical and Diagonal lines
1. What is a reciprocal line and how is it used in, "Henri Cartier-Bresson. ROMANIA. 1975. In a train"? A reciprocal line is typically, 90 degree lines all around, the reciprocal line intersects and brings focus on the intersecting point in the middle.
2. In, "Henri Cartier-Bresson. USA. 1947. Cape Cod, Mass, Independence Day", how does the hand gesture add to the energy and movement of the diagonal lines? The hand gesture allows the woman to produce power and strength in the image. It as well can create a diagonal line.
3. In, "Rene Burri. BRAZIL. 1960. Rio de Janeiro. Ministry of Health", how do the diagonal lines create multiple directions for the eye to follow? Between all of the diagonal lines, movement, and people, our eyes tend to wander to view all of the little aspects in the image.

Curved Lines
1. In, "Abbas / GREAT BRITAIN. Belfast. A wall crumbles down after having been set on fire, presumably by the IRA", how do the curved lives add to the suspense/tension of the image? You can view all of the curved lines in the falling building. The suspense seems to appear as we suspect the building is to fall when it is no longer in its original place. The tension however is created when a man is standing not far from the falling building, reflecting a sense of tension.
2. In, "Henri Cartier-Bresson / France, 1932", How do the curved lines add movement to the frame? The curved stair case seems to be pointing toward the moving bicyclist creating a sense of movement.
3. In, "Eric Kim / Santa Monica, 2011", How are the curved lines also creating framing in the photograph? The man is obviously walking at a constant speed and when they captured the image he is completely in focus. Our eyes tend to focus directly onto him due to the handle for the escalator being curved and aiming in a way toward him.
